Goan Fish Curry

Ingredients |
- 750 grams Pomfret
- 60 grams Onions
- 60 grams Tomatoes
- 100 ml Thick coconut milk
- 100 ml Thin coconut milk
- 4 Green chillies
- 10 Red chillies
- 7 teaspoons Coriander seeds

- 1 1/2 teaspoons Cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 3-4 Garlic cloves
- 1 tablespoon Ginger juliennes
- 40 grams Tamarind
- Oil
- Salt (As per taste)

Method |
Clean and wash the fish, make cuts all over and keep aside. Grind the red chillies, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, ginger, garlic and tamarind (soaked in water for 15 minutes and de-seeded) to a fine paste. Chop the tomatoes and finely slice the onions.
Heat oil in a deep bottomed pan, add sliced onions and sauté till golden brown. Add chopped tomatoes and the ground paste. Fry for 3-4 minutes till the tomatoes are soft. Add the thin coconut milk with 1 cup of water and bring to a boil. Then add the fish and green chillies, simmer for 5-7 minutes. Adjust the seasoning. Add the thick coconut milk. Take off fire just when it starts boiling.
Serve hot with steamed rice.
