 Lobongo Latika (Deep fried mava packets dipped in sugar syrup) 
Ingredients
  • 200 grams Refined flour
  • 2 pinches Baking powder
  • 3 tablespoons Ghee
  • 200 grams Khoya
  • 1 teaspoon Nutmeg powder
  • 6 Cloves
  • 1 cup Oil
  • 100 grams Sugar
  • 120 ml Water
Method
Mix the flour, baking powder and ghee well. Knead into a soft dough with hot water. Divide the dough into six portions.

Sauté the mawa and nutmeg powder in a heavy-bottomed pan for five minutes. Cool. Roll out each dough ball into small discs. Put one tbsp of the mawa-nutmeg mixture on each disc. Fold the sides of the disc into a rectangular shape. Insert a clove in the centre to hold shape.

Heat oil in a deep bottomed pan and deep fry the lobongo latika till light brown.

Bring the sugar and water to a boil in a heavy-bottomed pan to make a thin sugar syrup. Dip the fried labongo latika in the sugar syrup.

Serve cold.
