 Bengali Crab Curry 
Ingredients
  • 1 kg Crabs
  • 2 Potatoes
  • 2 Onions
  • 2 Cloves
  • 2 Cardamoms (green)
  • 1 piece Cinnamon
  • 2 Tomatoes
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon Ginger
  • 5 Garlic cloves
  • 2 teaspoons Cumin seed powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Mustard oil
  • Salt (As per taste)
Method
Clean the crabs. Finely chop the onions, tomatoes and potatoes. Grind the ginger and garlic to a fine paste.

Heat oil in a deep bottomed pan, add the cardamoms, cloves and cinnamon. Saute for a minute. Add the crabs and fry at high temperature for about 5-7 minutes. Keep them aside.

Fry the chopped potatoes in hot oil for 2 minutes. Add the chopped onions and fry till the onions are golden brown. Add the ginger-garlic paste and saute till the paste is golden brown in colour. Then add the chopped tomatoes, cumin powder, chilli, salt and sugar. Fry till the tomatoes are tender and oil leaves the sides of the pan. Add the fried crabs and mix well. Add about 2 cups of water and boil for 15 minutes. Serve hot with steamed rice.
