 Aloo Posto (Potatoes with poppy and mustard seeds) 
  • 1/2 kg Potatoes
  • 1/2 cup Poppy seeds
  • 1 tablespoon Mustard seeds
  • 2-3 Green chillies
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1-2 tablespoons Oil
  • Salt (As per taste)
Peel and chop the potatoes. Soak the poppy seeds in hot water for half an hour and grind to a fine paste along with mustard seeds and green chillies.

Heat oil in a deep bottomed pan, add the cumin seeds, when they start crackling add the chopped potatoes. Mix well. Cover and cook on a high flame for about 5-7 minutes or till the potatoes are tender. Add a little water to the paste and add it into the potatoes along with salt. Mix well. Cover and cook till the gravy thickens and the potatoes are completely cooked.

Serve hot with rice or rotis.
