 Vengaya Thuvaiyal (Onion Chutney) 
  • 3 Chopped onions
  • 2 Red chillies
  • 3 Green chillies
  • 2 teaspoons Mustard seeds
  • 4 teaspoons Black gram dal
  • 1/2 teaspoon Asafoetida powder
  • 1 bunch Coriander leaves
  • 1 teaspoon Tamarind paste
  • 2 tablespoons Oil
  • Salt(As per taste)
Heat 1 tablespoon oil and fry the red chillies, green chillies, mustard seeds, black gram dal and asafoetida powder and keep aside.

Heat the remaining oil and fry the chopped onions evenly till light brown in colour.

Grind all the ingredients to a fine paste along with coriander leaves, tamarind and salt.

Serve with hot rice and ghee.
