 Idli (Rice Idli) 
  • 2 cups Raw boiled rice
  • 1 cup Black gram dal
  • Salt(As per taste)
Soak the parboiled rice and black gram dal separately in water for 4-5 hours. Grind the dal to a very fine batter (it should be light and fluffy). Grind the rice into a grainy batter(semolina consistency).
Mix the dal and rice batter, add the salt and set aside to ferment for at least eight hours. Stir the batter just before filling in the moulds.

Steam in oiled idli moulds in an idli steamer or pressure cooker for 20 minutes.

Serve hot with coconut chutney and sambhar.
