 Elumichampazha Sadam (Lemon Rice) 
  • 1 cup Long grained rice
  • 4 tablespoons Lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 3 tablespoons Peanuts
  • 2 Chopped green chillies
  • 1 inch Chopped ginger
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped coriander leaves
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Black gram dal
  • 1 teaspoon Bengal gram dal
  • 1 Red chilli
  • 1/2 teaspoon Asafoetida
  • few Curry leaves
  • 2 teaspoons Oil
  • Salt(As per taste)
Boil the rice and set aside. Don't over boil the rice, each grain has to be separate.
Heat the oil in a small pan and add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, black gram dal (urad dal), bengal gram dal (chana dal), red chilli, curry leaves and asafoetida. When the mustard seeds start spluttering, add the green chillies, ginger and peanuts, fry for a couple of minutes. Add the rice, turmeric powder and salt. Mix well. Turn off the heat and add the lemon juice.
