 Adai (Dal Dosai) 
  • 1/2 cup Black gram dal
  • 1/2 cup Toovar dal
  • 1/2 cup Bengal gram dal
  • 1 cup Rice
  • 6 Red chillies
  • 4 tablespoons Grated coconut
  • 1/2 cup Chopped onions
  • 1/2 teaspoon Asafoetida
  • 1 bunch Chopped coriander leaves
  • Salt(As per taste)
Soak the black gram dal, toovar dal, chana dal, raw rice and red chillies in 2 cups of water for two hours and grind them coarsely.

Add salt, grated coconut, chopped onion, coriander leaves and asafoetida powder.

Heat a dosa tawa or griddle and season it by smearing a few drops of oil and then sprinkling some water. Pour a ladleful of the batter and spread evenly like a pancake (dosa), as thin as possible. Make a hole in the centre. Pour a teaspoon of oil in the centre and around the edges. Cook till golden brown in colour. Turn the other side and fry till golden brown and crisp.

Serve hot with coconut chutney.
