Malai Kofta

Ingredients |
- 250 grams Grated paneer
- 4 tablespoons Refined flour
- 1/4 level teaspoon Baking powder
- 1 tablespoon Coriander leaves
- 2-3 Green chillies
- 1 1/4 teaspoon Red chilli powder
- 1 large Onion
- 1/2 teaspoon Chopped ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon Chopped garlic

- 1 cup Tomato juice
- 1/2 teaspoon Garam masala
- 2 tablespoons Grated coconut
- 2 tablespoons Cashew nuts
- 1 tablespoon Poppy seeds
- 1/2 cup Curd
- 1/2 cup Fresh cream
- Salt (As per taste)

Method |
Mix together the paneer, flour, baking powder, coriander leaves, chopped green chillies, salt and 1/4 tsp.red chilli powder to make a soft smooth dough. Divide into 12-14 portions and shape into round balls or koftas. Deep fry over medium heat till golden brown.
Chop the onions and coarsely powder the cashewnuts and poppy seeds. In a deep bottomed pan, heat ghee and lightly fry slightly crushed ginger and garlic. Add the onions, fry to a light brown colour. Add the cashew and poppy powder. Fry for 3-4 minutes.
Mix in the tomato juice, salt, chilli powder and the garam masala powder. Cover and cook over low heat till the ghee leaves the sides of the pan. Add the beaten curd, cook again on low heat for 3-4 minutes.
Before serving add 1 cup of water and bring to a boil. Add the koftas and let them cook over low heat for about 8-10 minutes. Lastly, add the cream. Garnish with green chillies and coriander.
Serve hot with rotis or naans.
