Papletchi Amti (Pomfret curry)

Ingredients |
- 2 Pomfret
- 8 Curry leaves
- 5 Kokum
- 2 Onion
- 2 Chilli (green)
- 4 cups Coconut milk
- 2 tablespoons Coriander seeds

- 1 tablespoon Chilli powder
- 1 tablespoon Coriander leaves
- 1 tablespoon Garlic paste
- 1 tablespoon Ginger paste
- 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- Salt (As per taste)

Method |
Wash and clean the fish. Evenly coat the fish with half the ginger-garlic paste and the turmeric powder and keep aside for one hour.
Grind the coriander seeds to a coarse powder. Make a paste of the remaining ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder and the ground coriander.
Heat oil in a deep bottomed vessel, add the curry leaves and the green chillies. Fry for one minute. Add the chopped onions and fry till golden brown. Add the ground masala paste and a little water. Add the fish and cook till done.
When the fish is cooked, add the kokums. Cook for a few minutes. Add salt and the coconut milk. Simmer till the coconut milk just about starts boiling.
Serve hot with steamed rice.
