Meen Palukari (Fish in coconut milk)

Ingredients |
- 1/2 kg Fish
- 1 cup Coconut milk
- 1 tablespoon Vinegar
- 2 medium Onions
- 4 Green chillies
- 1 1/2 tablespoons Chopped garlic
- 1 tablespoon Chopped ginger

- 2 teaspoons Coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
- 1/4 teaspoon Mustard powder
- 1/4 teaspoon Pepper powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 3 tablespoons Oil
- Salt (As per taste)

Method |
Clean and cut the fish into pieces. Make a fine paste of the red chilli , turmeric, coriander, mustard and pepper powders. Slice the onions finely.
Heat oil in a pan and saute onions, ginger, garlic, slit green chillies and curry leaves till the onions are light brown. Add the paste and saute till oil leaves the sides of the pan and the mixture emits an aroma. Add fish pieces, vinegar, salt and enough water. Cover and cook on a low flame till the gravy is reduced to half its original quantity. Add the coconut milk, stir and simmer for a few minutes. Do not boil.
Garnish with chopped coriander leaves. Serve hot with steamed rice.
