 Fish Stew 
  • 500 grams Fish
  • 1 Grated coconut
  • 1 inch Chopped ginger
  • 5 Chopped green chillies
  • 5 Cloves
  • 1 inch Cinnamon
  • 2 Black cardamom
  • 1/2 teaspoon Pepper powder
  • 1/2 cup Coconut oil
  • 2 teaspoons Curry leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 8 Sambhar onions
  • 2 teaspoons Coconut slices
  • Salt (As per taste)
Clean and cut the fish (any variety) into small pieces. Prepare two extracts of coconut, first with 1 cup of warm water, second with 2 cups of warm water.

Heat oil in a pressure pan and saute 2 tsp curry leaves, mustard seeds, chopped ginger, chillies, cloves, cinnamon, cardamoms and the fish pieces for 2-3 minutes. Add the second extract and salt and pressure cook.

Finally add the first extract and the pepper powder and boil it for a minute. Remove it from fire and transfer the contents to a serving dish. Garnish it with the fried sambar onions and the fried coconut slices.

Serve hot with appam or pappadam.
