 Chemmeen Varthada (Prawn Roast) 
  • 20 Tiger prawns
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 5 Chopped green chillies
  • 1 inch Chopped ginger
  • 4 Sliced onions
  • 6 Chopped garlic
  • 2 teaspoons Curry leaves
  • 2 teaspoons Chilli powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 cup Coconut oil
  • 2 teaspoons Chopped coriander leaves
  • 2 teaspoons Grated coconut
  • Salt (As per taste)
Wash, shell and de-vein the prawns. Make small slits on the prawns, rub salt on it and leave it aside for an hour.

Heat the oil and saute the prawns till tender. Drain and keep aside. In the same oil saute the mustard seeds, green chillies, ginger, sliced onions, garlic and the curry leaves for a minute. Now add the sauted prawns, chilli and the turmeric powder. Mix the contents thoroughly and cook for a minute. Remove from fire and transfer the contents to a serving dish.

Garnish the dish with the chopped coriander and the roasted coconut.
