Ingredients |
- 500g green or string beans
- 2 tablespoons grated coconut
- Salt (As per taste)
- 2 tablespoon Water
- 2 teaspoon Oil
- 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds

- 1 teaspoon Urad dal
- 1 teaspoon Bengal gram dal
- 1 red Chilli
- 1/2 teaspoon asafoetida powder
- Few Curry leaves

Method |
Trim the ends of the beans if necessary. Chop the beans finely and set aside. If using fresh coconut, grate and set aside.

Heat 2 teaspoons oil in a heavy saucepan. Add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, black gram dal, halved red chilli, asafoetida powder, and a few curry leaves.
When the mustard seeds splutter, add the chopped beans, salt to taste, and 2 tablespoons water. Cover saucepan with a lid and simmer over a low heat until the beans are tender. Add the grated coconut. Mix thoroughly.
Serve hot.
