Kodi Tamatar (Savoury Chicken with Tomatoes)

Ingredients |
- 1 1/4 kg Chicken
- 1/2 cup Ghee
- 6 Black cardamom
- 1 inch Cinnamon
- 4 Cloves
- 4 Sliced onions
- 1 teaspoon Ginger paste
- 1 teaspoon Garlic paste
- 1 tablespoon Red chilli powder

- 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric
- 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Cumin powder
- 1/2 kg Chopped tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon Tamarind pulp
- 6 Curry leaves
- 4 Chopped green chillies
- Water
- Salt (As per taste)

Method |
Heat ghee and fry cardamoms, cinnamon and cloves till cardamoms swell. Add and fry onions. Stir in ginger, garlic, red chilly, turmeric, coriander, cumin and fry together. Add chicken and fry well till brown. Add tomatoes and tamarind pulp and simmer till chicken is cooked, adding a cup of water or more as required. The tomatoes should get pureed and the oil should surface. Add curry leaves, green chillies and salt and leave covered to simmer for a few more minutes.
