 Mysore Bonda 
Ingredients
  • 1 cup Urad dal
  • 2 cups Water
  • 1 teaspoon whole black peppercorns
  • 1/4 cup chopped coconut pieces
  • 1/2 teaspoons asafoetida powder
  • Few Curry leaves
  • Oil for frying
  • Salt (As per taste)
Method
Soak the black gram dal in 2 cups water for 2 hours. Drain off excess water completely.
Place dal in an electric blender. Add the salt to taste, black peppercorns, coconut, asafoetida powder, and a few curry leaves. Mix thoroughly.

Heat oil in a heavy frying pan or skillet. Shape the batter into lemon-sized balls, and drop gently into the oil. Fry until golden in color.

Drain the cooked bondas on a sheet of brown paper or absorbent kitchen paper.
Serve hot with Coconut Chutney.
