About the Temple

Krishna's Eternal Kingdom

Dwarkadheesh Temple, also known as Jagat Mandir, is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Krishna, who is worshipped here as Dwarkadhish or 'King of Dwarka'. The temple is one of the Char Dham pilgrimage sites.

According to legend, the original temple was built by Krishna's great-grandson Vajranabha over the Hari-Griha (Lord Krishna's residential place). The current structure dates to the 16th century but stands on the site of much older temples.

The five-storey temple is supported by 72 pillars and features intricate carvings. The spire (shikhara) rises to 78.3 meters and flies a 52-yard long flag that is changed five times daily.
